How It Works
Laser capillary reduction is the most effective non-surgical way to treat unwanted capillaries. Capillaries can be present anywhere on the face but especially around the areas of the nose and cheeks.
The laser energy from the laser is absorbed by the blood contained within the broken capillaries. As the energy is absorbed, heat is generated which effectively breaks down the vessel and in some instances completely vaporises it. This process of the conversion of light energy to heat energy, with the heat affecting the target veins but not damaging the tissue surrounding them. The heating up of the veins causes them to disintegrate and shrink, allowing them to be absorbed safely into the body.
You may be left with some redness over the background of your skin, and some isolated bruises over larger treated blood vessels. Redness settles within minutes to hours, bruising resolves within a week. You may wear sunscreen or makeup immediately.
Some vessels disappear immediately. Other vessels may become less visible or lighter in appearance. Generally a series of treatments are recommended.
Broken or dilated capillaries are small veins that can appear on your face and body. They occur when the capillary walls expand and contract too quickly, causing them to tear and allowing blood to leak out.
Broken capillaries are more common under dry and sensitive skin because it does not provide much protection. Once these broken vessels appear, they do not heal on their own.

Avoid direct sun exposure 2 weeks before & after
Avoid vitamin A & prescription skincare for 1 week
No products on skin for appointment (i.e. makeup, artificial tan, moisturiser)
Prior to and following the treatment you must avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks on the treated area as your skin will be particularly sensitive. Our technicians will discuss an appropriate skincare routine with you in order to see optimal results.
Post Treatment Care
Swelling, bruising & redness may occur & last up to 72 hours, in some cases prolonged redness may be experienced.
Apply a cold compress or icepacks for 10 mins per hour to reduce heat in the skin.
Apply a cooling gel.
Use only mineral based makeup for 48hrs after treatment.
Until all redness has gone, avoid:
- Using AHA, BHA or Vitamin A products.
- Waxing the area.
- Swimming pools & spas with chemicals/chlorine.
- Activities that cause excessive perspiration.

Are Vascular Laser Treatments Safe?

How long does the treatment take?
Treatment time is entirely dependant on the size of the area being treated.
What is the recovery time?
You may experience some redness or bruising in the treatment areas. However, you will be able to continue with your life as normal following the treatment.
How long before you see results?
You are likely to see results immediately after your treatment. Some clients may require a few treatments to see strong results.
Can I have this treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Your safety is our main concern and for this reason, we advise against cosmetic injectable, laser hair removal and medical grade treatments whilst pregnant, simply out of precaution and due to the lack of information available on effects. However, there are no conclusive studies on these treatments being safe or unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you have any concerns about please consult your doctor before proceeding.
What Are The Side Effects Of Laser Treatment?
In the weeks following treatment, the treated veins may appear slightly darker. This is a normal process of the vein coagulation and will fade over a period of weeks.
Does Spider Vein Laser Treatments Hurt?
The treatment is not painful, but you may feel a little heat sensation in areas. Again, this is very much an individual response as everyone has different pain thresholds. We do everything to make sure your treatment is comfortable for you.
How Many Treatments Will I Need To Get Rid Of My Spider Veins?
The number of treatments required will vary from person to person. This can range from 1 to 3 sessions.
