Lip fillers are small injections of gel that fill in wrinkles and add volume to soft tissue. Lip fillers are made from a natural substance which is responsible for attracting and maintaining water in the skin. For this reason, the fillers can be used to create beautiful volume and contouring for your lips.
Whether smiling, pouting, laughing or kissing, your lips are often in the limelight and forever a focal feature. Beautiful lips can enhance your look like no other feature can, thereby giving you a special kind of confidence.
The structure and volume of your lips can change with age. This ageing process is exacerbated by the action of your muscles, smoking and sun damage, which can be treated with lip fillers.
We can create a range of results, the most popular being:
The structure of the lips can be achieved based on the clients preference. The areas being injected can be very targeted to get the desired result.
Most clients are after volume and full lips. Depending on your current lip volume most clients only require 1ml of dermal filler to increase the volume to the desired look. In some cases an additional 1ml can use used either on the same treatment or as a top up after the initial swelling subsides.
As dermal fillers are made of Hauloranic Acid, your body naturally breaks it down over time. The results generally last anywhere between 6-12 month depending on your metabolism and how fast you break down the product.
For other areas such as vertical lip lines and shape correction usually 1ml is more than enough. It is possible to use less than 1ml and distribute the remainder into other parts of the face.
Before going ahead with your lip fillers treatment, we will want to get an idea of what you want your lips to look like. We will also provide you with a personalised recommendation based on your face shape and structure – your lips need to complement the rest of your facial features.
A local anaesthetic cream will be applied to the lips before injecting them to prevent unnecessary discomfort. During lip fillers treatment, we will gradually inject the filler until you are happy with the appearance.
Lip rejuvenation treatments don’t take longer than 20 to 30 minutes to complete, so patients can easily schedule it over their lunch hour. Since no downtime is necessary, you are free to return to work directly after your appointment, however there can be some swelling and a small chance of bruising can also occur
It’s important to protect your lips from direct sun exposure and to avoid vigorous exercises until the injections have settled. It’s also important not to rub or touch your lips too much after your treatment. You will also need to wait for any swelling to subside before you are able to see the final results.
Aftercare
Application of Ice
You can place an ice pack your lips to reduce itching, swelling, bruising, and other pain that you may experience after the procedure.
Avoid Stress
Do not subject yourself to strenuous activities between one to two days after this procedure. This is because increased heart rate and blood pressure can cause severe bruising or swelling.
Stay Hydrated
Make sure to drink enough water to help your body with the healing process. Also, eat a lot of vegetables and fruits as they are good for your body.
It is also recommended to avoid the following for two weeks:
Extended exposure to sun or UV light
Extended exposure to heat or freezing temperatures
Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites. If you have swelling at the injection site you can apply an ice pack for a brief period to help with discomfort.
You can expect to see immediate results from dermal filler. However, swelling occurs with every treatment which needs to be taken into consideration.
We have different types of filler to suit different applications, depending on your metabolism. Most dermal fillers can last from 6 to 12 months,. What filler is used and where can be advised to you during the consultation.
Initial appointments are longer to allow for the consultation process and questions. The actual treatment only takes 20-30 minutes
Statistically 1 in 20 will bruise, but everyone is different, if you bruise easily you could bruise with filler treatment. There are also a few things that can make you more likely to bruise, if possible for up to 2 weeks prior to your appointment cease consumption of green tea and alcohol.
Recovery from lip fillers can include some swelling, redness, or bruising, which generally disappears in a few days or a week. Most of the swelling is gone by 5 days and complete resolution happens in nearly about 2 weeks. The healing process could be helped by avoiding heavy exercise, excessive sun exposure, and alcohol immediately after the treatment.
Lip fillers are available to most people; however, consultations are needed to ensure that it is right for you. In a consultation, we can go through all aspects of your health and aesthetic expectations. Some medical conditions or drugs may be unsuitable for lip fillers—for instance, during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or if you have an active infection. We are going to examine your case history carefully to ensure that this treatment is going to be safe for you and effective. This also ensures optimal results by keeping health and safety first with customised treatments.
We don’t recommend it as it will make swelling worse, but will not affect the result.
Everyone’s pain threshold is different. We make your experience as comfortable as possible, our Nurses are highly experienced and attend regular training to keep up to date with the latest skills and techniques.
We use a medical grade numbing cream, have a nerve block and the lip filler itself has a numbing agent in it.
Lip enhancement is performed with dermal fillers, a biocompatible substance that is injected strategically into areas in and around the lips.
You’ll speak with one of our injectors about your background and medical history at your initial consultation. After hearing your goals for your lips, the injector will formulate an enhancement plan, determining which part of your lips will be enhanced.
Lip fillers can lead to temporary redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the site of each injection. The key to keeping these risks at bay lies in finding an experienced provider who applies safe injection techniques and knows how to manage possible complications when they arise. Always discuss your general health and medical history, along with any concerns you have to ensure a safe and satisfying outcome with your provider.
Always discuss preparation for lip enhancement treatment with your injector during the initial consultation. To minimise the risks of bruising, avoid blood-thinning medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, alcohol, and green tea for at least one week before your appointment. Do not have dental procedures and vaccinations for at least two weeks before and post-treatment. Always share your medication list and any allergies with the provider.
