Laser Tattoo Removal

LUX Series tattoo removal uses a sophisticated Q-Switched Nd: YAG Laser known for its ability to remove a variety of tattoo ink types and colours. The LUX series tattoo removal can remove tattoos within 6-12 sessions based on the quality of the tattoo. By matching the colour of the laser to the colour of the unwanted tattoo ink, multi-coloured professional tattoos, as well as single colour amateur tattoos, can be removed safely and effectively.

A laser that is used for tattoo removal is a highly focused laser that rapidly delivers a beam of light to the skin for the purposes of removing unwanted tattoos. The laser is attracted by darker colours found in the ink of the tattoo in preference to the lighter colour of the skin. When the beam of the laser strikes the ink in a tattoo it shatters the ink into very fine particles. These particles are then no longer visible to the eye and become small enough to be absorbed and removed by the body’s own natural filtration (lymphatic) system.

How It Works

How Laser Tattoo Removal works

When someone gets a new tattoo, the tattoo ink is injected into the second layer of the skin called the dermis. The body cannot break down the ink as the fragments are too large, so the tattoo ink becomes permanent.

Laser technology can be used to remove the tattoo by breaking it down into smaller fragments that the body can break down and flush out.

We use a Q-Switched Nd: YAG laser which produces short high intensity pulses to target the tattoo. Two different wavelengths are produced 532nm to target yellow, green, and red colours and 1064nm to target black and blue colours. The energy from the laser light produces shock waves, that shatter the ink into very fine particles. This causes a frosting effect on the skin as your body’s natural filtration (lymphatic) system starts to flush out and remove the effected ink particles.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments requires varies depending on a number of different factors. On average most clients will require 6-12 treatments but results will depend on age of tattoo, the colours, the amount of ink originally used and how deep it is. The interval between treatment will be about 4-6 weeks.

Is it painful?

Everyone has different pain thresholds, but most clients say it is similar discomfort to getting a tattoo. The treatments however are much faster with most being completed in 10-20 minutes. We also using additional air cooling to numb the area and further minimise discomfort.

How much does it cost?

The cost greatly depends on the size of the tattoo. Prices start from $90. The other pricing factors can include the placement, colours used and age of the tattoo. In the free consultation we will be able to provide with the exact quote and an idea of how many treatments you will need and how successful the removal process will be!

Is it safe?

The treatment is very safe if performed by a trained and professional technician using the correct wavelength and appropriate settings. However there a number of aftercare instructions you will need to follow to make sure your skin heals properly. This will all be explained in the initial consultation before the treatment begins.

What should I expect during the treatment?

Generally, treatments are quick, and clients experience only minimal discomfort.

How frequent are the treatments?

Time is required between each treatment to allow the body’s lymphatic (cleaning) system to remove the ink that has been treated by the laser. A minimum period of six (6) weeks between treatments is recommended.

When will I start seeing results?

It is possible to remove or significantly lighten most tattoos. Black, blue and red tattoos tend to respond well. Aqua, green and yellow tattoos may be more resistant and only partially fade. White tattoos reflect laser light and therefore do not respond to laser treatment.
